Strategy #5.
Have visual continuity! Do you want a calm setting, a wild setting, a very colorful setting, a quiet setting, a children's setting, an adult setting, or any type of setting you can think of.
Find the palette that pleases you in your setting and adhere to it. Use the same palette to create unity from area to area or room to room.
If you are looking for a clam setting, soothing to you, restful to your mind, close your eyes and think restful. What do you see? Do you think of water, sand, sky, or downtown New York City or a sidewalk café in France? Whatever it is that comes to mind in your daydreams, write it down and expand upon it. Think of the palette it evokes. Is it the tranquil turquoise waters of the Caribbean, or running on golden sand, or whatever it is, write the colors down. Then build a palette from that and carry it through you small space and on to the other spaces. You can add other colors as you go thru other rooms, but make it flow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
