A Little bit More on Children

We have been talking about children's bedrooms and baths.  One thing to remember is that they seem to grow so quickly that it is hard to keep up with them.

Choose things that will last for at lest 5 years.  Even things you pick can last a lot longer.  Don't buy a lot of towels, etc. that have a character on them.  Buy a few and wash often.  Pick primary colors, red, blue and yellow and use things that match.  Another little hint, save the paint in a plastic jelly jar and attach a small paint brush to the jar so you have it handy to touch up nicks.  Do this with the paint in every room.

When doing a theme, stay as close to your colors without having to spend a fortune.  For instance, instead of buying say a Sponge Bob toothbrush holder, buy a yellow one and Sponge Bob toothbrush or toothpaste.  They are available as I have bought them.  That way, the toothbrush holder is always usable.

The same with bathroom rugs, if you are doing say the Sponge Bob theme, buy blue rugs, it is like the water he lives in, and towels with maybe Sponge bob washcloths.  Look around before you leap. The same thing goes for girls bathrooms if they are themed.

What I am not sure of is if you can get decals to put on the walls.  You could get a picture, or have your child color pictures and frame them and use them on the walls.  One, the child loves to see their own work, and two, your art on the walls is covered.  This is a very inexpensive way to decorate your child's bathroom.

I see a lot of that kind of thing at garage sales.  That is another great idea and really inexpensive.  Use your imagination, be creative, use the right side of your brain!

Today I started a new blog, Nancysadowskisfineart.blogspot.com. I hope you stop by and follow.
